Vengara takes lead in Malappuram District School Arts Festival

Malappuram and Kondotty sub-districts secure second and third positions with 551 and 538 points respectively

Vengara sub-district was in the lead with 561 points as competitions peaked on the third day of the Malappuram District School Arts Festival being held at Government Raja’s Higher Secondary School, Kottakkal. Malappuram sub-district was in the second position with 551 points and Kondotty sub-district in the third position with 538 points.

In Upper Primary category, Perinthalmanna sub-district was leading with 131 points. In high school category, Mankada sub-district was in the lead with 223 points. In higher secondary category, Vengara sub-district was leading with 246 points.

CHM Higher Secondary School, Kizhissery, was leading with 163 points, followed by RMH High School, Melattur, with 157 points, and PKMM Higher Secondary School, Edarikode, with 132 points.

Melattur sub-district was leading in both UP and high school categories of Sanskrit festival. In Arabic festival (UP), Perinthalmanna, Areekode, Malappuram, Kuttippuram and Kizhisseri sub-districts were vying for the top slot with 55 points. In high school category, Mankada and Perinthalmanna sub-districts were in the lead with 70 points.

K.K. Abid Husain Thangal, MLA, released a special supplement of the arts festival named Melaravam. Programme committee chairman Basheer Randathani presided over the function.

The festival saw a flurry of appeals. In three days, there were 38 appeals against the verdicts. Of the 23 appeals registered on Thursday, 21 were in higher secondary category.
