All the places in Greater Manchester where a flood warning is in place

A number of flood alerts have been issued across Greater Manchester as Storm Bert causes disruption across the UK.

A yellow weather warning for rain and snow is in place, and areas including the North East and Scotland have seen heavy snowfall and strong gales.

In Greater Manchester, flood alerts are in place in areas including Oldham, Bolton, Lancashire and Accrington.

Here is a full list of the current flood alerts and warnings in place in our region according to the Environment Agency:

Flood alert for Upper River Irwell catchment with Oldham, Bolton, Rochdale, Haslingden, Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall

Rising river levels from now until at least daybreak Sunday morning 24 November 2024 may lead to flooding of low lying land.

Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Irwell, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around low lying land and roads around the Rivers Beal, Roch and Croal, Limy Water and their tributaries.

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.

Flood alert area: Upper Irwell catchment includes the Rivers Beal, Roch and Croal, Limey Water and their tributaries. Other locations which may be affected are around Farnworth, Whitefield, Little Lever, Radcliffe, Bury, Heywood, Whitworth and Bacup.

Flood warning for Rivers in Accrington and Oswaldtwistle

Heavy rain from Storm Bert is expected to cause flooding this morning from 11:00 AM.

Areas most at risk include the River Hyndburn, Woodnook & Broad Oak Water, Antley Syke, Pleck, Hynburn, Tinker, Lottice and Whiteash Brooks in Accrington and Oswaldtwistle. Comprising Dunnyshop, Baxenden, Lower Fold, Peel Bank, Barnfield and Little Moor End.

Weather conditions are expected to improve this afternoon and no further flooding is expected.

We are closely monitoring the situation and clearing debris from weed screens.

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.

Stay away from floodwater - it contains hidden dangers such as open manhole covers, sewage and chemicals.

Flood alert for Lower River Ribble and Darwen

Heavy rain during Saturday 23/11/2024 may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible from 2:00 PM on 23/11/2024 as river levels are forecast to rise due to Storm Bert.

Flooding is forecast to affect locations surrounding the River Ribble and it's tributaries.

We are closely monitoring the situation and liaising with emergency services and local authorities.

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.

Flood alert for River Gowy catchment including areas around Frodsham

Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible, property flooding is not expected.

Flooding is possible from 5:00 PM on 22/11/2024 and will affect locations near the River Gowy.

Further heavy rainfall is forecast tomorrow, levels will continue to rise and remain high all weekend.

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.
