The group of heroic lads who tirelessly worked to rescue a dog trapped in a rock face were pictured enjoying some well-deserved pints after their monumental effort to bring Rose home.

Rose, the Jack Russell, fell through a 12-inch gap in a rock face in Halifax on Thursday, September 26. A rescue mission was launched with a group having to cut through the rock to get to her, after she had fallen eight metres underground..

Day after day, residents eagerly awaited updates on Rose and the mission to save her, reports Yorkshire Live. After eight days, little Rose was finally brought to safety on Thursday night, thanks to the unwavering determination of a group of lads who worked around the clock to save the pup.

In recognition of their heroism and true northern grit, the landlady of the Flying Pig in Halifax invited them for some celebratory drinks last night.

And calls are being made for them to be nominated for an award, such as the Pride of Britain. Their rescue mission has captivated Yorkshire and beyond, with praise lavished on the boys for never giving up on Rose.

Rose has since been given the all-clear and is believed to be at home recovering from her ordeal. Meanwhile, a fundraiser has so far reached £10,000 to replace expensive equipment that was broken and destroyed by the mission to get Rose out. The page, created by Sammy Morris on behalf of the volunteers, stated that all tools were used for their own small businesses and were very costly to replace.

Locals provided food and drink to the volunteers, swiftly cordoning off the site to expedite their efforts. The rescue of Rose saw an outpouring of praise on Facebook, with thousands posting messages. Liam Kerr posted: "Well done all the wonderful lads for rescuing Rose. I am so glad she is out and safe. You all deserve the Pride of Britain award. I am so glad she can be with her family now."

Tanya Ord shared: "I could not be happier when my daughter messaged me to tell me she was out. You lads deserve a medal for what you've done this week."

Comments such as 'brilliant news' and 'so happy she is out safe' flooded in, with many referring to Rose as 'the most famous dog in Britain'. There were even calls made for the rock to be named "Rose's Rock".

Chantel Colbert from the Flying Pig has been following the rescue efforts from the beginning and expressed relief at seeing Rose freed yesterday afternoon. In celebration of the volunteers' commitment and the positive outcome they all hoped for, she offered them a complimentary drink.

Colbert remarked: "We would like to offer all the lads involved in Rose's rescue a free drink at the pub to show our gratitude as they have worked tirelessly to freeing Rose. They have restored our faith in humanity."
