Horror as woman rushed to hospital after becoming trapped underneath car
by Stephen Topping · Manchester Evening NewsA woman has been taken to hospital after becoming trapped under a car in Rochdale. Officers closed off Birch Road, in Wardle, after being called out to the scene at around 9.05am today (November 22).
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the collision involved a pedestrian and a car. The woman became trapped underneath the vehicle, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).
Crews rescued the woman from underneath the car. Paramedics also attended the scene. The woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At around 9.10am this morning (Friday, November 22), two fire engines from Rochdale fire station and the enhanced rescue unit from Ashton-under-Lyne fire station were called to reports of a crash involving one vehicle on Birch Road, Wardle.
“Crews helped to release one person from under the vehicle before they were transferred into the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital. Firefighters were in attendance for roughly one hour."
