Our bodies naturally produce vitamin D when exposed to sunlight, according to Healthline.

However, in the UK's winter months, deficiencies in this vital vitamin are common due to reduced sun exposure. While some foods do provide vitamin D, many experts and even the government advise taking a daily supplement from October through March.

I only started doing this 10 months ago after a blood test revealed I was deficient in vitamin D. Symptoms of this deficiency can include fatigue, aches, pains and muscle weakness. Since that day, I've been popping Vitabiotics supplements and I've never felt better.

Healthline suggests that vitamin D offers numerous benefits, including bolstering a healthy immune system and enhancing resistance to certain diseases. It can also help regulate mood, aid weight loss and reduce the risk of severe illnesses.

My most prevalent symptom was fatigue, which not even a SAD lamp could alleviate, particularly during the gloomy winter months. I simply pop one vitamin D tablet daily, although the dosage can vary depending on the brand, reports Express writer Sophie Harris.

There are different strengths available, but I chose the optimum level available at my local supermarket. I haven't missed a single day of taking the tablet, and both my mood and energy levels have seen a significant boost.

I can now power through an entire day without needing a nap, and my skin has improved as well. This health-savvy family swears by a particular supplement, which they take unfailingly throughout the year.

It's divulged that this small tablet is taken with a meal for better absorption because it's fat-soluble. Healthline, however, warned: "If you take excessive amounts of vitamin D supplements, you may get too much of it."

They also added: "However, this is unlikely to happen through diet or sun exposure because your body regulates the amount of vitamin D produced through sun exposure." It's essential to seek advice from an expert before diving into supplementation. With a plethora of options like Holland and Barrett’s range and BetterYou’s sprays, it's important to find the one that fits your health best.
