Mum died after being found unresponsive in bed by her son
by Philip Dewey · Wales OnlineA mother found unresponsive by her son died as a result of an overdose, an inquest opening heard. She was later transferred from Wales to a hospital in Birmingham but died from multi-organ failure.
Ailisha Perdereu, 43, of Pontypridd, suffered with epilepsy for which she received prescribed medication. She went to bed on the night of October 31 but the next morning her son was unable to wake her up.
A friend was alerted that Ms Perdereu could not be woken and an ambulance was called. She was initially taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and was found to have suffered an overdose of paracetamol.
An inquest opening at Pontypridd Coroners' Court heard Ms Perdereu was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where she received treatment for intracranial hypertension. She died on November 11.
A post-mortem examination concluded Ms Perdereu died as a result of: 1A. multiple-organ failure; 1B. liver failure; 1C. paracetamol overdose.
Coroner Rachel Knight adjourned the hearing for a full inquest having concluded Ms Peredeu's death appeared unnatural. The coroner expressed her sincere condolences to the family of Ms Peredeu.
