ITV The Chase star Mark Labbett thrilled as he achieves 'main health goal' after diagnosis
by Katy Hallam, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/katy-hallam/ · Birmingham LiveThe Chase star Mark Labbett has revealed he has achieved a major health goal after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. The master quizzer, 59, was diagnosed in 2017.
He only found out when a nurse who noticed his skin was having trouble healing on his legs. Since the diagnosus he has dropped from 29 stone to 19 stone, and hopes to reach 17 stone soon.
Sharing an update on his health on Instagram, Mark revealed: "My glucose levels have gone down considerably in the short time I've been using it so that's one of my two main health goals ticked. My glucose levels now are mainly in the normal range, admittedly the high end of normal, but normal range.

"And because I'm not eating so many naughty carbs my weight is dropping down. Hopefully, my target is 17 stone, and I should get there with luck," he continued.
Speaking on World Diabetes Day about his Dexcom continous glucose monitor, Mark, known as The Beast on The Chase, said: "It's really good at keeping an eye on my health and my Type 1 diabetes now I'm getting on a little bit. And hopefully I can live as long and full a life as possible."
His fans were quick to support the star in the comments, with one writing: "Well done Mark, my Sisters has type 1 since early 20s so it's good to talk about diabetes. Thank goodness you lost the weight as that will improve the type 2. Looking good."
"Well done Mark happy to see you heath is improving," a second shared. A third commented: "It's hard being type2 diabetic mark,I keep trudging on you do same best wishes x."
And a fourth added: "Glad to see your health journey going so well Mark. I have a continuous glucose monitor attached too but mine is a Libre 2 and it's so nice to hear more people talking about these types of devices and their benefits."
