Six flood alerts and one flood warning remained in place across Derbyshire after a weekend which saw heavy snowfall give way to torrential rain and a rapid thaw as Storm Bert swept into the area. Many places were left under threat of being flooded though three flood alerts have been removed in the past 24 hours in Duffield, Little Eaton and Markeaton Brook.

The level of the River Dove at Aston Bridge in the Dovefields Crossing , Saltbrook Cottage and Draycott Mill areas rose to 3.36 metres at 7.30am on Monday morning - the level at which property could be flooded.

The ford at Tissington proved to be the undoing of a transit van late on Sunday morning (November 24) and led Ashbourne firefighters to rescue it from the floodwater. They issued a warning which said: "Take care out there in this weather, and stay away from open water."

The Environment Agency in Derbyshire has said it expects river levels across the county to remain high into Monday morning (November 25) and that staff are "closely monitoring the situation". River levels in South Derbyshire on the River Trent - from Newton Solney to Castle Donington - are expected to remain high through to Tuesday.

The current flood alerts are:

  • Lower Derwent - river levels have risen at the Church Wilne river gauge as a result of rainfall and melting snow associated with Storm Bert. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Church Wilne, Draycott, and Wilne Lane between Draycott and Sawley. Flood alert area is from River Derwent from Rowsley to the River Trent at Shardlow.
  • Lower Dove - river levels are high at the Doveridge river gauge as a result of rainfall associated with Storm Bert. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland was expected throughout Sunday and into Monday. Flooding is expected to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Dove between Rocester and Clay Mills. The flood alert area covers low-lying land and roads between Rocester and Clay Mills on the River Dove and the Egginton Brook at Egginton.
  • Lower Dove Brooks and Egginton Brook - river levels are high at the Sutton Mill river gauge as a result of rainfall associated with Storm Bert. Flooding is expected to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the Foston Brook, Hilton Brook and Egginton Brook.
  • River Erewash - river levels are high but steady at the Shipley Gate river gauge as a result of rainfall and snowmelt associated with Storm Bert. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland remains possible. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads around Pinxton, including the Pinxton Wharf access road, Langley Mill, Ilkeston, Stapleford, and the recreation area at Sandiacre.
  • River Trent - river levels have risen at the Shardlow and Willington river gauges as a result of rainfall and snowmelt associated with Storm Bert. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Willington, Barrow upon Trent, Swarkestone, Bargate Lane, and the access roads to Willington Meadows, the Twyford Village access road, Church Lane at Barrow, and Ingleby Lane.
  • Upper Dove - river levels are rising again at the Agnes Meadow river gauge as a result of a second band of rainfall associated with Storm Bert. Flooding is expected to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Dove between Izaak Walton and Rocester and the Henmore Brook between Carsington Dam and Mayfield.
