Switch of lawyers causes delay in setting preliminary inquiry for suspects in killing of Rocky View County worker

The two men are charged with second-degree murder in the Aug. 6, killing of Colin John Hough

by · Calgary Herald

The lawyer for one of two suspects in the fatal shooting of a Rocky View County employee withdrew from the case Thursday, delaying the scheduling of a preliminary inquiry.

Justice Jim Sawa was ready to allow Michael Mussieux to be removed as counsel of record before Crown prosecutor Ryan Ziegler interjected.

Ziegler noted Mussieux, who had made several appearances for murder suspect Arthur Wayne Penner before Justice Karen Molle ordered him onto the record last week, hadn’t provided sufficient reasons for withdrawing.
