Police launch investigation after gunshots fired outside nightclub

Police have launched an investigation after gunshots were fired outside a nightclub in an upmarket area of London.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots after a verbal altercation involving a group of people outside a nightclub in Russell Gardens, West Kensington at 4am this morning.

Casings were found at the scene after Metropolitan Police officers attended and searched the location.

The force says all those involved left the scene prior to their arrival and no injuries have been reported.

A crime scene remains in place while investigative work continues.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw events unfold, or anyone who has information that could assist police, to come forward.

A statement from the Met said: 'Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a firearm discharge in West Kensington.

'The incident happened at approximately 04:00hrs on Sunday, 13 October outside a nightclub in Russell Gardens, W14.

'Witnesses reported hearing gunshots after a verbal altercation involving a group of people. All those involved left the scene prior to police arriving.

'Officers attended and during a search of the location, casings were found. A crime scene remains in place while investigative work continues.

'There have been no reports of any injuries.'
