OnlyFans model, 29, who blackmailed married man avoids prison

An OnlyFans 'model' has narrowly avoided jail for blackmailing a married man by threatening to tell his wife if he failed to pay up hundreds of pounds.

Bethan Guy demanded the money from a customer who subscribed to receive her adult content saying she would tell his wife about his indiscretions.

Swindon Crown Court previously heard that the victim paid out £450 after he was pressured by the 29-year-old.

However, when he was told to hand over even more money he contacted the police.

He was left in significant distress, concerned he would lose his family as a result.

In court, an anonymity order was made to prevent the publication of the victim's identity.

Guy, of Swindon, was arrested and later charged with blackmail. She pleaded guilty to the crime in December 2023, which can carry a prison sentence of up to 14 years.

In February, Judge Jason Taylor deferred Guy's sentencing until August.

The conditions of the six-month deferral included that she does not commit further offences and retain her employment or if she lost employment, to use her best endeavours to obtain a new job.

While awaiting sentencing, the defendant continued to promote her OnlyFans profile, which features photos of her in the nude along with video footage of her engaged in sexual activity with a male or toys.

Court delays meant she wasn't sentenced until last week, on October 15, when Judge Taylor imposed a two-year prison sentence and suspended it for two years.

Guy was ordered to complete 225 hours of unpaid work in the community, 12 sessions of mental health treatment and 15 rehabilitation activity days with the probation service.

In addition, she must pay compensation of £450 back to the victim at a rate of £50 per month.

In a statement read to the court, Guy's victim said: 'I felt trapped and helpless. I didn't have enough money to pay my rent and bills, which was a huge strain for me.

'I felt I had no choice but to pay the money, as she had made the threats very clear and I was afraid of the devastating affect it would have on my life if I didn't pay.'

DC Emma Rossiter said: 'Guy met her victim through SnapChat where she was selling adult photos of herself. She then began threatening to tell his partner if he did not hand over money.

'Sadly we are seeing increasing numbers of people being blackmailed through social media sites.

'If you've been a victim we'd like you to remember, whatever has happened is not your fault, even though you might have been told it is.

'We understand that it might be difficult to report this type of crime to us but we are here to listen and help where we can.'

In a public statement on Instagram in July, ahead of the original sentencing date, Guy described her crime as 'a mistake and stupidity'.

She added: 'If I could go back to the moment it happened I would because it honestly was just a mistake but this small mistake has now cost me so much pain and dread I can't even explain.

'If I could give anyone advice it'll be don't think you're untouchable because something will catch up one day.'
