Beauty therapist fears she will be permanently scarred by glassing

A beauty therapist fears she might be scarred for life after being glassed by a gang of women on a night out - with one shard narrowly missing a major vein.

Elly Brosch was knocked unconscious at a rooftop bar in Kent when she came across the vicious rabble and only woke up minutes later in the ladies' toilets.

The 27-year-old said what had been an enjoyable night with a friend at Harry's Bar in Maidstone was made even worse by a three-hour wait for an ambulance.

One deep gash, above Elly's left eye, narrowly missed her temporal vein - which goes up the side of the face to the forehead - a potentially life threatening injury if not quickly treated.

The Whitstable resident now believes her attackers will strike again if they are not brought to justice, with no arrests made in over a week since the incident.

'I never thought anything like this was possible,' she said.

Elly said she recalls being smashed in the face at Harry's, which claims to be 'Maidstone's liveliest bar', as she turned round to face the group of strangers on the terrace.

She has since been left appealing on local Facebook groups in the hope someone saw what happened and recognised those responsible.

'I'm pretty sure I had my back to them and as I turned around they hit me,' she recalled.

'They must have glassed me first as I vaguely remember my hair being pulled out and everyone screaming and then staff carried me upstairs.

'I woke up on the floor in the girls' toilet after being unconscious for a while.

'The medics told me I'd been attacked by a group of girls and they had smashed a glass and hit me with it.'

Elly's friend was at the bar at the time but did not see what happened.

Staff called an ambulance but after three hours with no luck, Elly got to Maidstone Hospital herself, where she then waited another two-and-a-half hours for a CT scan and blood tests.

She is likely to be left with permanent scarring and says she hates the thought that her attacker is still out there.

'I never thought anything like this was possible,' she said, now fearing the same fate could befall someone else if her attackers are not found
She appealed for witnesses on Facebook, as the police investigation into the incident on September 21 continues

Elly appealed on social media asking: 'If anyone who was in Harry's bar last weekend (Saturday 21st September) has any information on the person who did this to me, please message me.'

She added: 'It's just totally shocked me that this would ever happen. I'd never dream of this happening to anyone.'

A spokesperson for Harry's Bar said: 'We have fully cooperated with the police and they have full access to any CCTV as part of this investigation.

'For legal reasons, we are only permitted to provide CCTV footage directly to the police.

'We will continue to cooperate with the police if any further requests are made in their investigation.'

Confirming no arrests have been made so far, a spokesperson for Kent Police added: 'Police are investigating an assault at Harry’s Bar (above The Brenchley) in Maidstone which left a woman suffering head injuries.

Elly added: 'It's just totally shocked me that this would ever happen. I'd never dream of this happening to anyone'

Even after the three-hour wait for an ambulance, Elly had a further two-and-a-half-hour wait at Maidstone Hospital for a CT scan and blood tests

'It is reported that at around 11.30pm Saturday 21 September 2024, the victim was struck by a bottle during an incident involving a group of women who were unknown to her.

'The woman required treatment for her injuries at hospital, where officers also attended to gain an initial account. She has since been discharged and police have contacted and spoken to the victim again as enquiries into the assault continue.

'The investigation has included the successful retrieval of CCTV from the venue and assistance from security staff in attempts to identify any suspects.
