¨Russian 'spies met Just Stop Oil as they plotted fake blood attack'

by · Mail Online

Russian 'spies' met with Just Stop Oil protestors to plot a fake blood attack on the Kazakhstan embassy in London, a court has heard.

Spy ring leader Orlin Roussev said his team met with the climate campaigners to organise the disinformation campaign against Kazakhstan, whilst he was living in Great Yarmouth.

Jurors heard that the Russian security services would pass on fake intelligence about the staged protest to the Kazakh intelligence agencies to help build a strong relationship.

Roussev, 46, was given the order by Jan Marsalek, the fugitive boss of German payments processor Wirecard, on behalf of the Kremlin.

The pair also discussed creating deep-fake gay porn of the president's son or catching him in a honey trap.

Roussev said he had also lined up a peer, a baroness and two MPs to raise issues about human rights abuses in Kazakhstan in Parliament after he realised Kazakh intelligence agencies were not taking them seriously enough.

Sacha Baron Cohen was another option considered by the pair, as they thought about hiring the comedian to create a Borat video criticising the Kazakh regime.

They also discussed sending letters to EU leaders calling for them to sanction president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev over his support for Vladimir Putin.

Roussev and his number two Bizer Dzhambazov (pictured) have already admitted to conspiracy to spy with a Russian agent using the alias Rupert Ticz

The disinformation campaign organised between Roussev and Marsalek was one of six planned operations which will be outlined to jurors at the Old Bailey.

Roussev and his number two Bizer Dzhambazov, 43, have already admitted to conspiracy to spy with a Russian agent using the alias Rupert Ticz, who prosecutors allege is Marsalek.

Marsalek is wanted by Interpol in connection with a £1.6 billion fraud at Wirecard, which collapsed in 2020.

Also on trial is Dzhambazov's girlfriend Katrin Ivanova, 33, his 30-year-old lover Vanya Gaberova and Tihomir Ivanchev, Gaberova's ex-boyfriend, 39. They all deny being part of the conspiracy.

Ms Ivanova is alleged to have had taken part in the surveillance of the Kazakh embassy in London whilst Roussev and Marsalek put together plans to douse it in pig's blood using drones.

It was said that Dzhambazov worked alongside Ms Ivanova and had access to human blood samples through his job at The Doctor's Laboratory.

But they were also running tests on how to make pig's blood the right consistency to spray over the building on Pall Mall, in central London.

Roussev messaged Marsalek in 2021 to say he 'met the Oil Protester… very good' and said that he was 'definitely impressed on their abilities'.

He also shared links to Just Stop Oil campaigns in which they have daubed buildings with paint.

The Bulgarian, who had EU settled status to remain in the UK, wrote: '[Sic] Amazing organisation… they even have 'training courses' how to peaceful protest and disruption, tight on the edge of the law… without getting more than 1-2 weeks jail time in worst case scenario.

Now Just Stop Oil protesters cause chaos on Jeremy Corbyn's doorstep: Activists glue themselves to road in Islington on day 22 of their campaign to bring London to a standstill

'I can summarise these people as pure white KKK [Ku Klux Klan] or pure Hitler Youth… they are not racist… but simply only white people in their troops. I was surprised and confused at the same time…

'They are fearless … and pretty much have a 'do not care' attitude that they can go to jail … and sort of Kamikaze … but wait… in their ranks are very intelligent people … even teachers etc … so very interesting breed of people.'

Roussev claimed that JSO are 'driven by pure dedication' and that 'they like our angle for the interconnection between Human Rights Abuses and Big Oil business in Kazakhstan'.

There is no suggestion that if a meeting took place the climate protesters were aware that they were talking with Russian spies.

But Roussev claimed his team had been 'invited for high ranking meeting' and said that it would be good to 'make official (not cash) donation to their cause'.

A website criticising the Kazakh regime was also created by the pair and they discussed putting critical messages on a 'Boris bus' that would drive past the embassy, the court heard.

They also set up photos of a staged meeting of Kazakh dissidents in London and Marsalek said: 'Russian intelligence will feed it to them through official channels as the result of a secret source in the UK spying on Kazakh opposition.

'It will be the "result" of a super secret Russian spy operation.'

At the time, Mr Tokayev was under pressure after 219 civillians were killed after he ordered the army to open fire on demonstrators who he claimed were part of a coup.

Marsalek had suggested 'hacking Kazakh nuclear power plants, leaking sex videos, crashing the currency' and creating 'a gay deep-fake of Tokayev's son', before settling on the blood protest idea.

He suggested getting a gay club owner to 'give an interview that the son of the Kazakh president is a regular (gay) customer'.

He added that the Putin's military intelligence unit the GRU told him it would be a 'drama in Kazakhstan' if they published it.

Roussev added: 'I know a few of the TOP UK Porn stars and the circles around them… with all the elite clubs… SWING etc… we can check or at least create a real fake story…'

Marsalek then tells Roussev: 'Glorious news from Kazakhstan: Kazakh intelligence is in a small panic and wants our Russian friends to investigate who this new group of activists is.

There is no suggestion that if a meeting took place the climate protesters were aware that they were talking with Russian spies (pictured: JSO protestors block traffic as they take part in a slow procession around Parliament Square)

'They will provide money to bribe the Russians to investigate after verifying their initial information.'

But a month later, Marsalek said that the Kazakh intelligence agencies were not taking them seriously enough yet. He suggested sending letters calling for sanctions to government officials.

Roussev assured him that he has 'already reached out to the MP I have as a contact' and 'we have 4 high profile people to support our public effort: 1x Lord in the house of Lords 1x Baroness 2 x MPs'.

He said 'they will voice their opinions in parliament… (since our cause is honourable), as soon as their stunts went public.

'There is no cost they will get free Political credit and costs nothing to them as long as the cause is legit enough and Human Rights and War is good political commodity,' he added.

The jurors have also heard about plans to monitor Ukrainian soldiers training at a US airbase in Germany and to kidnap or kill an investigative journalist.

The trial continues.
