Footballer Kevin van Veen 'exposed his partner's naked body without her consent' and  'shoved her off a bed she was pregnant', a court has heard.

The Dutch striker has appeared in court over claims he conducted a three-year campaign of abuse against his former partner.

The 33-year-old is alleged to have carried out a catalogue of incidents at addresses in Cancun, Mexico, Lanarkshire, Inverclyde, and Renfrewshire.

Van Veen, of Glasgow, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and made no plea to the single charge he faces under domestic abuse laws.

The brief hearing was told prosecutors have still to hand over evidence to his legal team including statements, photos of alleged injuries and screenshots.

Prosecutors claim van Veen repeatedly shouted, swore, uttered threats of violence and offensive remarks towards the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, between September 2021 and July this year.

Depute fiscal Jack Muir said: 'The Crown joins the motion to continue this matter without plea.

'There appears to be evidence still to be disclosed including statements, photographs of injuries and multiple screenshots of messages.

'There is a large amount of productions in this case.'

Jackson Bateman, defending, also asked for the case to be continued.

Van Veen is alleged to have pulled down his former partner's clothing and underwear to expose her naked body without her consent.

He is further said to have repeatedly forced her to stand naked during arguments.

Court papers state he monitored her mobile phone and social media activity.

Van Veen faces further claims he repeatedly seized hold of her body and that he pushed her off a bed while she was pregnant.

He is also said to have repeatedly prevented her from sleeping and to have repeatedly turned up at the homes of her family members and refuse to leave when asked.

The footballer is said to have repeatedly demanded that she attend at his property and persistently called and texted her and her family members.

He is also accused of locking her inside his home.

The case was continued until December 23 by Sheriff John Speir.

Van Veen had been on loan this season at St Mirren from Dutch side Groningen but his contract with the Paisley side was ripped up following his initial court appearance last month.

He previously had spells at Motherwell and Kilmarnock.
