A condo manager intervening in a fight over the hanging of Christmas decorations attacked a tenant with a hammer last week in the Brazilian city of Paranoá.
The violent outburst occurred after an elderly resident decided to decorate the building, despite the objections of some of tenants.
She was permitted to move forward with the display, with the exception of festooning hallways near residents' apartments.
The merry tenant decided to deck the halls anyways, drawing the ire of a resident on the third floor, who ripped down the ornaments adorning his door and hallway.
Noticing they had been removed, the elderly woman returned to replace the decorations, leading to an argument between her and the third-floor tenant.
That's when the building's manager, Jacó Pereira, stepped in.
In surveillance video, Pereira appeared to be hanging an ornament in a hallway while arguing with the third-floor resident.
As the two were seen squabbling, the building manager charged at the tenant with a hammer.
'I managed to defend myself by holding the hammer,' the unidentified resident told G1, noting he avoided injury.
The building is no stranger to tenant-management beefs.
In October 2021, then-manager, Gláucia Kele, was approached by 57-year-old resident Cosme da Silva over the loud music that was being played in her car in the building parking lot.
During the argument, Kele beat da Silva with an iron bar and da Silva responded by stabbing Kele and her family members.
The case, which is being investigated as attempted murder, remains open.
