Myleene Klass 'was targeted by stalker in harassment campaign'
by GEORGE ODLING · Mail OnlineAn alleged stalker sent Myleene Klass a Catwoman and police officer fancy dress outfits and tried to post her an air pistol during a nine-month campaign of harassment, a court heard.
Peter Windsor, 60, also sent the former popstar multiple unwanted letters and 'unwanted gifts including shoes and jewellery,' prosecutors said.
His alleged stalking had a 'substantial adverse effect on Myleene Klass's usual day-to-day activities', and which he knew or ought to have known would cause her 'serious alarm or distress', according to legal documents.
Windsor is also accused of stalking Ms Klass's colleague, Katie Breathwick, 52, a late night presenter on Classic FM.
Prosecutors said that between 2020 and 2023 he sent Ms Breathwick some binoculars, a pair of running shoes with spikes in, a bottle of champagne and a stamp collection.
Both Ms Breathwick and Ms Klass, 46, received a series of unwanted 'incoherent' letters that had Windsor's address on and appeared to be in his handwriting, Birmingham Crown Court heard.
After almost three years of targeting Ms Breathwick, Windsor then diverted his attention to her colleague Ms Klass, prosecutors said.
The items were allegedly sent to Classic FM's London office, though the air pistol was intercepted before it reached the mother-of-three, the court heard.
Neither Ms Breathwick or Ms Klass, who shot to fame in the pop group Hear'Say created through reality series Popstar in 2001, attended the brief hearing at Birmingham Crown Court last month.
Details of the case can now be reported after the Mail won a battle to remove restrictions.
Windsor, of Stechford, Birmingham, appeared on a videolink from prison, where he is being held on remand.
Defence barrister Phil Brunt successfully applied for an adjournment.
He is yet to enter a plea to two counts of causing serious alarm by stalking but a trial has been scheduled for March.
Ms Klass's former group Hear'Say scored one of the biggest-selling debut singles of all time with Pure and Simple shifting 550,000 copies in the first week of release and becoming the first of two UK Official Singles Chart Number 1s for the group.
But their success was short-lived and the group disbanded after 18-months.
Classically-trained musician Ms Klass was runner-up on I'm a Celebrity four years later, with scenes of the star showering in a white bikini becoming an enduring image for the series.
The bikini later raised £7,500 at a charity auction.
Last year, Ms Klass won an 'all stars' version of the show set in South Africa and became the first 'I'm a Celebrity Legend.'
She remains a panellist on ITV's Loose Women and a Classic FM DJ.
Ms Klass has been in a long-term relationship with Simon Motson with whom she shares a son, who was born in 2019.
Ms Breathwick, who is married to the creator of the BBC series Death in Paradise Robert Thorogood, has worked at Classic FM since 2008.
