Gunmen storm wedding in Mexico as bride gets ready to toss bouquet

Dramatic footage captured the moment gunmen stormed a wedding reception in Mexico just as the bride was set to toss her bouquet, killing a suspected human trafficker in the chaotic scene.

Video showed the bride, Guadalupe Sosa, about to throw her bouquet when gunmen raided the Casino del Sueño venue hall in Xalapa on Saturday night.

A masked gunman can be seen in the video carrying an assault rifle and pushing a man toward the exit when he slipped and fell on the dance floor - as a stunned Sosa, her husband, Manuel Bocanegra, and their guests looked on in horror.

At one point, the alleged trafficker, Vladimir Zúñiga, attempted to prevent the suspects from kidnapping him before he was shot and killed.

Local outlets reported that Sosa's mother and father were both injured.

Sosa's mother reportedly suffered a wound to the shoulder and her father, who works as a union leader, was shot in the foot.

However, an officer with the Tabasco State Attorney General's Office told DailyMail.com that none of the invitees were injured.

The Tabasco State Attorney General's Office said during a press conference Sunday afternoon that preliminary investigation indicated that Zúñiga had a criminal background.

'Apparently, from these investigations that are being carried out, it was a person who was engaged in illegal activities: human trafficking,' Tabasco Deputy Prosecutor Gilberto Melquiades said.

Days before the reception, Sosa posted a collage of wedding photos on Facebook with the caption: 'The dream what I want to fulfill with you my love.'

'The agreed time has come,' Bocanegra replied to the post later that day. 'I love you Lupita Sosa.'

Xalapa Mayor Manuel Hernández said in a statement that he requested the assistance of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to investigate the shooting and locate the five gunmen.

'We ask that we remain united and informed if necessary,' Hernández said.

'We are in total and absolute support of the affected families, seeking to recover the peace that we so need in our land.'
