A neighbour from hell who drove a car at a toddler during a bitter feud on a private housing estate has been locked up.

Debbie Ross also steered her car towards retired joiner John Everett, forcing him to jump out of her way several times during the dispute.

Ross was remanded in custody yesterday after she was found guilty of harassing Mr Everett on the Dall Estate, in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire.

Sheriff Jennifer Bain, KC, said: ‘The evidence heard was that you perpetrated a course of abusive behaviour towards the complainer by driving your car and accelerating towards him and, on one occasion, a three-year-old. Although the car did not strike any person, it had the potential to be very dangerous.’

The jury heard a dispute arose when Ross moved onto the estate and complained that she didn’t want to look after chickens which had been left behind by a previous tenant.

Mr Everett added: ‘I saw her car coming down the lane. I said, “Here’s that nutter coming, what’s she going to do this time?” She swerved towards me, then swerved back out again and carried on.’

He told the jury he was left raging when Ross, 61, carried out a similar move as he was taking a toddler out for a walk.

‘I blew my stack,’ he said. ‘I said I was going to go up there to murder her.’

Ross was found guilty of accelerating towards Mr Everett in her Land Rover Freelander and forcing him to take evasive action on August 16, 2020, and of acting in a culpable and reckless manner at an access road to Dall Estate on September 6, 2020.

She was also found guilty of driving towards Mr Everett when a three-year-old child was with him on September 23, 2020, as well as two charges of failing to appear in court.

Sentencing was deferred.
