Tragic reason man asks neighbour to remove Halloween decorations

A woman has revealed the heartbreaking reason why a neighbour asked her to take down 'morbid' Halloween decorations.

A clip posted to TikTok by Salena, under the handle @thatsnorthsense, saw the incident captured on her Ring doorbell.

It involved her neighbour knocking on Salena's door and asking: 'Hello, I know you're celebrating Halloween and all that stuff.

'He [the neighbour's dad] just got diagnosed with lung cancer the other day.

'And you know the thing is kind of scary,' he said in reference to a scene of a cemetery that Salena had recreated.

A clip posted to TikTok by Salena, under the handle @thatsnorthsense, saw the incident captured on her Ring doorbell, when it occurred in October 2023.

The man then asked: 'Would you mind taking just the casket out?'

Understandably shocked and saddened, Salena told her neighbour that she understood how he was feeling and would remove the scene without hesitation.

The video, filmed in October 2023, subsequently cuts to footage of Salena's husband removing a coffin and taking it to the couple's back garden instead, where it was able to be out of sight of their neighbours.

Explaining the process in the caption, Salena said: 'My family knows I love Halloween and my decorations took me a while to make and put up.

'I had just purchased the skeleton carrying the casket to go along with my graveyard to really set my Halloween décor off this year.

'I was a little sad at first but i thought about the bigger picture. Me removing my casket isnt hurting me at all but it may ease and bring my neighbour a little bit of peace as he adjusts to this news.

'Kindness is free and compassion goes a long way.'

Reacting in the comments section, other users were quick to commend Salena for her compassion, remarking: 'That was so awesome and kind of you. God bless you for inconveniencing yourself and the neighborhood that surely loves your Halloween passion.'

Another said: 'This was so amazing of you. When my father passed, any little reminder like this was so painful.

'I'm a huge Halloween lover, too, so I really respect this'.
