A North East jobs fair which attracted 2,000 attendees last year will return this week, with over 70 organisations in attendance.

Hundreds of opportunities from a wide range of sectors will be showcased at the jobs fair, including roles in construction, hospitality, retail, finance, health and care. There will be a range of full and part time opportunities, as well as seasonal work and apprenticeships available.

Job seekers in Newcastle and the surrounding area are invited to the event, which is being hosted by Newcastle City Council and Job Centre Plus. It will take place at Newcastle's Civic Centre on Tuesday, October 8, between 10am and 3pm.

Attendees will be able to speak directly to employers about the opportunities. Organisations attending include Morgan Sindall Construction, Thompsons of Prudhoe, Newcastle NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Water, Barclays, Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums and Newcastle City Council.

Advice and support will also be available on the day.

Coun Karen Kilgour, leader of Newcastle City Council, said: "We are committed to providing everyone with the opportunities to succeed in life, and being in good employment is one of the keys to this. Following on from the huge success of last year’s jobs fair, we are delighted to once again bring it back and provide a great opportunity to help people find work, training or make that step up to a different job and successful career.

"It is wonderful to have so many employers sign up to the event, once again showing their commitment to giving people in Newcastle and the surrounding area the chance to make progress on their careers, and ultimately a brighter future."

The event is free, but anyone interested should book their place via this link.

Anyone who would like help to book, or requires more advice and support, should contact Work and Thrive on 0191 277 4125, text 07977 730739 or email workandthrive@newcastle.gov.uk.
