No one will be charged over the death of a woman at a city home.

Paramedics were called to the house, in Kingston Avenue, in Walker, Newcastle, at around 11.30am on Saturday, January 27. A woman, who was in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police were alerted to the incident by the ambulance service and officers initially said they were treating the death as "unexplained".

Two men, aged 54 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs following the woman’s death, but both have now been told they will face no further police action.

And today, Northumbria Police confirmed it was no longer probing the tragedy.

A spokesman for the force said: “On January 27 this year we received a report from the ambulance service of concern for the welfare of a female at an address on Kingston Avenue, in the Walker area of Newcastle. Emergency services attended and a woman in her 20s was sadly pronounced deceased.

"A full investigation was carried out into the circumstances of the woman’s death and no criminal offences were found to have been committed. A report into the woman’s death has been prepared for the coroner.”

Previously, people living nearby told the Chronicle they believed the woman was a mum to a little boy.
