Newcastle United and Sunderland fans have the opportunity to win match-worn and signed shirts by supporting the Poppy Appeal.

MatchWornShirt are supporting The Royal British Legion by auctioning shirts worn by players across the UK.

Players will wear shirts with the Poppy emblem for matches from Thursday October 24 until Remembrance Sunday on November 10. These shirts will be signed by the players and made available via auction on the MatchWornShirt website and app, with proceeds being donated to the RBL.

This is the 6th season of MatchWornShirt’s partnership with the RBL, with close to £3m being raised for the charity to date. Supporters can also get their hands on a squad-signed shirt offered in a separate special giveaway, which is free to enter, and runs from October 21 to November 11.

Since it was first worn as an act of Remembrance just over 100 years ago, the red poppy has become an enduring symbol of support for the Armed Forces. This year, the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal's goal is to highlight the mental scars linked to military service.

Ben France from the Royal British Legion said: "Battlefield trauma and mental health issues can manifest at any time in life and in different ways, including addiction, debt, homelessness and relationship breakdowns. Your poppy enables the RBL to support those who struggle with the upheaval and disruption of service life, and life after service."

James Flude, Head of Business at MatchWornShirt said: "The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces community, and we’re incredibly proud to support this cause for the sixth consecutive year.

"At MatchWornShirt, we’re passionate about giving fans the chance to own a piece of football history. Each signed, match-worn shirt from this campaign not only captures a unique moment in sport but also helps ensure that vital support continues for veterans and service personnel."

Every donation to the Poppy Appeal helps to provide vital support to the Armed Forces community, ensuring that their contribution is never forgotten. To help the RBL continue its vital work, head to the MatchWornShirt’s website and get involved in one of the many auctions here.
