Man charged with attempted rape and false imprisonment in County Durham park appears in court
by Daniel Hall · ChronicleLiveA man who has been charged with attempted rape after an incident in a County Durham park has appeared at court.
Malcolm Thomas Clixby, 42, of Darlington, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with attempted rape, sexual assault and false imprisonment. He entered no plea to any of the three charges.
The charges came after a 17-year-old girl reported being approached by a man who tried to assault her as she walked through South Park in Darlington at around 4.45pm on Saturday. The teenager managed to get away from the suspect and call 999 for help.
Durham Constabulary issued an appeal for information the following day, after Clixby was arrested. He will appear at Teesside Crown Court on December 4.
