CCTV released after Gateshead shop staff assaulted as man stole soft drinks during robbery

A man assaulted two members of staff as he robbed soft drinks from a Gateshead shop.

According to police, a man entered a shop on Fewster Square, in the Leam Lane Estate area, at around 1.30pm on Wednesday, November 6.

He then picked up multiple soft drinks and tried to leave without paying. When challenged by two members of staff, a man and a woman, he assaulted them. The offender then left the premises.

Enquiries into the report are ongoing and officers have released images of a man they would like to identify as they investigate the robbery.

He is understood to have been in the area at the time the robbery is reported to have taken place and officers believe he may be able to help with their investigation.
