Raiders that targeted Toon star Joelinton's home still being hunted one month on

Raiders who targeted the home of Toon star Joelinton are today still being hunted one month on.

The midfielder's luxury house, in Darras Hall, Northumberland, was burgled for the second time this year on Thursday November 14. The first break-in happened in January, while Brazilian Joelinton was at St James' Park.

Police say the incident was reported at around 7.35pm. But by the time officers arrived the offenders had fled the scene. No one has yet been arrested and the investigation is today continuing.

Following the break-in 28-year-old Joelinton, whose full name is Joelinton Cássio Apolinário de Lira took to social media to beg criminals to allow his family to live in peace.

He wrote: "Our home was broken into again. To anyone considering doing this: Please know that there is nothing valuable left here!

"What we care about most is our family's safety and our kids growing up without fear. We hope for a community where our children, and everyone's children, feel safe. We ask that our home be respected as a safe space for our family. We simply want to live in peace."

Joelinton is not the only Newcastle United player to be targeted this year, as striker Alexander Isak was the victim of an alleged burglary in April, when his car was stolen. Four people were charged with conspiracy to burgle, and are awaiting trial.

Following the latest break-in a Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Shortly after 7.35pm police received a report of a burglary at an address in Darras Hall. It was reported that offenders had entered the property. Officers attended the scene – however those believed to be involved had fled the area. Enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the report."

Anyone with any information should contact Northumbria Police quoting reference number NP-20241114-0951.
