The image captures a heartfelt moment between Kate and Liz Hatton, a 16 year old photographer who has inspired both the Duchess and Prince William with her strength and creativity amid her battle with a rare and aggressive cancer.
A caption from the post on X, previously known as Twitter, reads: "A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us."
The young photographer was also involved in capturing moments from an investiture ceremony at Windsor, with the Royal couple expressing their gratitude in another Instagram post: "Congratulations to everyone who received honours at Windsor today! It was a pleasure to have @lizhatton_photography helping us to capture these special moments."
Liz, hailing from Harrogate, was diagnosed in January with desmoplastic small round cell tumors, a disease so rare it sees only about a dozen cases annually in England, and can drastically shorten life expectancy.
Liz has been given a prognosis of six months to three years to live, depending on how well she responds to chemotherapy. Since receiving her diagnosis, she has dived into her passion for photography, devoting herself to the art and telling Digital Camera World that it has "become my focus in life", reports the Mirror.
Meanwhile, Liz's mother, Vicky, captured hearts online after sharing her daughter's bucket list on X, previously known as Twitter. In other celebratory news, today's investiture ceremony saw honours bestowed upon football icon Ally McCoist, who became an OBE at the hand of Prince William, and renowned cyclist Mark Cavendish, who received a knighthood.
