Northumberland road closed for 'short period' after police car caught fire

Emergency services were called at around 8.45pm on Thursday to reports a police vehicle was on fire in a layby on the A189 northbound, just south of North Seaton. A Northumbria Police spokesperson said it was believed there was a problem with the vehicle.
The road was closed for a "short period of time" but has reopened.
A force spokesperson said: “Shortly after 8:45pm, on Thursday, November 28, police were made aware of a police vehicle that was on fire in a layby, on the A189 northbound, just south of North Seaton.
“It is suspected there was a problem with the vehicle.
“Emergency services attended and extinguished the fire before the vehicle was recovered. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
“The road was closed for a short period of time but has since reopened.”
