by · ChronicleLive

A woman who burgled a city centre shop and a Tyneside pub has walked free from court.

Angelina Jobson carried out a series of offences while already subject to a conditional discharge. She caused thousands of pounds of loss and damage to the North Face shop in Newcastle during one break in.

She then broke into a Newcastle pub, stealing beer after a window was smashed. She also stole alcohol and sweets from a fuel station. However she has been allowed to keep her freedom after a judge at Newcastle Crown Court imposed a community order for the offences

The court heard it was on February 29 this year that Jobson, 30, of Greenford Road, Walker, Newcastle, went to the Esso fuel station on the Coast Road with a man and stole £40 of alcohol and sweets.

On March 1, the manager of the North Face shop, on Blackett Street, in Newcastle city centre, got a call from security staff saying the store had been burgled by raiders who smashed the front door. CCTV showed a woman - Jobson - using a tool to break the door and enter with a man.

Various items were stolen, including clothing, were stolen and others were damaged with blood, to a total value of £3,342. In a business impact statement, the manager said they had to close for a day, resulting in a loss of at least £2,500 in takings and they also faced the cost of having the door repaired.

In the early hours of March 12, Jobson and a man broke into The County pub in Newcastle after smashing a window and she stole two bottles of beer.

Jobson, who has eight previous convictions and was on a conditional discharge at the time, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and one of theft. Mr Recorder Wheeler sentenced her to a 12-month community order with £250 compensation and a fine.

The judge said: "It's possible you were acting with others and they were pressurising you but you still committed the offences."

Penny Hall, defending, said: "There's a history of drug and alcohol misuse but she is now on a methadone prescription."
