Flowers laid outside Blakelaw home after woman's death
by Sophie Doughty · ChronicleLiveFloral tributes have been laid following the death of a woman at a city home.
Emergency services were called to the property, on Moulton Place, in Blakelaw, Newcastle on Thursday afternoon, but nothing could be done to save the 30-year-old's life and she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Locals say forensics officers were at the scene for around two days following the tragedy, on Thursday afternoon. But police have now confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “At around 12.30pm on Thursday December 12, we received a report of concern for the welfare of a person in the Blakelaw area of Newcastle. Emergency services attended an address in the area of Moulton Place and, despite the efforts of medical staff, a woman was sadly pronounced dead a short time after. Her next of kin have been made aware.
“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and a report has been prepared for the coroner."
One local business owner told the Chronicle how he saw police and paramedics arrive at the scene, which is close to shops. And he said police and forensics officers were on Moulton Place throughout Friday and Saturday.
"There was about seven police cars and four ambulances, it was late afternoon on Thursday," he said. "Then forensics came on the Friday. They were there all day Friday and Saturday. There have been lots of different rumours but I don't know what's happened."
A number of floral tributes have since been laid outside the home.
A card attached to one bouquet reads: "I will miss you more than you would believe. I keep expecting you to burst through the door. I'll never forget all our memories together."
A spokeswoman for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a private address in the Blakelaw area of Newcastle shortly after 3pm on Thursday 12 December. We dispatched a specialist paramedic, a rapid response vehicle and a double crewed ambulance."
