Four people rescued after car becomes stranded on Holy Island causeway
by Owen Younger · ChronicleLiveFour people have been rescued from the Holy Island causeway after a vehicle was cut off by the tide.
At 4pm today, The HM Coastguard and RNLI received a report of the stranded car at Holy Island Causeway at around 4pm on October 21.
The Coastguard Rescue Teams from both Holy Island and Berwick were sent, alongside a lifeboat from Berwick RNLI.
Four people who had been cut off by the tide have now been transferred to the main land, where they are being assessed and cared for.
An HM Coastguard spokesperson said: "At around 4pm today (21 October) HM Coastguard received a report of an incident involving a stranded car at Holy Island Causeway.
"Holy Island and Berwick Coastguard Rescue Teams were sent alongside Berwick RNLI lifeboat. Four individuals who were cut off by the tide were transferred to the main land for assessment and care.
