Teenager charged after knife attack left two in hospital in Ashington
by Daniel Hall · ChronicleLiveA 14-year-old has been charged following a knife attack in a residential property in Ashington.
Emergency services were called to Alexandra Road shortly before 7am on Friday morning, where they found a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s who had suffered injuries consistent with having been caused by a bladed article. The pair were taken to hospital, where their conditions were reported to be stable.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has since been charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Northumbria Police have urged the public not to speculate about the incident either online or in the community - including the identities of all allegedly involved.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "The boy – aged 14 – who was arrested has since been charged in connection with the report with two counts of cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
"He was scheduled to appear before magistrates in Newcastle on Saturday. With charges now live, we would urge the public not to speculate about the incident both online and in the community."
