Armed robbers threaten Gateshead shop worker before fleeing with stolen cash

Two men in possession of knives stole a quantity of cash and goods from Oakwood Convenience Store and made threats to staff before fleeing the scene on foot.
The employee was thankfully uninjured but has been left shaken by the incident. Northumbria Police is now carrying out enquiries into the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 7.15pm yesterday (Thursday), we received a report of a robbery at a premises on Leam Lane in the Gateshead area. It was reported that two men in possession of knives have threatened staff and taken a quantity of cash and goods before leaving the scene on foot. The victim was left shaken but uninjured in the incident.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police by sending us a direct message on social media, or using live chat and report forms on our website. Those unable to make contact in these ways can call 101. Please quote crime reference number: 122939X/24."
