No charges after affray suspect held over afternoon incident at Kenton Bar

A man was reported to have been "acting suspiciously" on the estate last week

A suspect held after a man was reported to be acting suspiciously on a city estate will not be charged.

Police were called to Kenton Bar, in Newcastle, at just before 2pm last Monday. It was reported that a man had been "acting suspiciously" in the area. A 49-year-old was arrested on Ryal Walk and questioned on suspicion of affray.

However, the suspect has since been told he will face no further police action.

Following the incident a Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Just before 2pm we received a report of a man acting suspiciously in the Kenton Bar area of Newcastle.

"Officers attended and located a 49-year-old man matching the description near to Ryal Walk. He was arrested on suspicion of affray."
