by Nicole Goodwin · ChronicleLiveA police cordon remains in place after a man was seriously injured and died in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were called to Eldon Lane, near Bishop Auckland, just before 3am on Saturday morning (December 14). Officers say a man aged in his 20s was seriously injured and was declared dead at the scene.
Durham Constabulary cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Two men and two teenage boys were arrested on suspicion of murder, while a woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Today, police said one of the men and two teenage boys remain in custody, while a third man has been released with no further action and a woman has been bailed with conditions.
The investigation is ongoing.
The family of the man who died are being supported by specialist officers and the public has been asked to refrain from speculating on the circumstances surrounding the death.
