Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced the Mahila Samman Yojana ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. Under this welfare scheme, the government will give Rs 1000 to women every month in Delhi. The former Delhi chief minister promised that after the Delhi Assembly elections this amount will be increased to Rs 2100 per month. The Mahila Samman scheme under the AAP-led Delhi was approved by the Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Atishi on Thursday.

Addressing a gathering, Kejriwal said that the women will not be able to benefit from this scheme as of now, however, if the AAP forms the government after the Assembly elections in Delhi then they will be able to get the financial aid.

The registration for the Mahila Samman Yojana will start from tomorrow which will be done for Rs 2100. Kejriwal said that if AAP wins the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, the scheme money will stand increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 2100.

"Where women are worshiped and enjoyed, there are gods. Women build the future of our country and we consider it our privilege to support them in their work," Kejriwal said addressing hundreds of women at the gathering.

"Imade this announcement in March and I hoped to implement it by April. But they put me in jail in a false case. But after my release from jail, I was working on this with Atishi to fulfil my promise," Kejriwal added.  Kejriwal also launched a scathing attack on the BJP saying that they might attack him on how the money for the beneficiaries will come, however, the AAP chief said that he can manage accounts well and knows "how to bring the money."

"Tell them, 'Kejriwal jadoogar hai, wo denge (Kejriwal is a magician, he will provide the money).' People are saying that the AAP will win only 60 seats or 50 seats. I want to appeal to my sisters and mothers… Each of your votes matters. Vote for us and give us more than 60 seats," Kejriwal added.
