The coalition won 235 out of 288 assembly seats, with the BJP alone dominating in 132 constituencies. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), consisting of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), Congress, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP, lagged significantly with victory in only 49 seats. The halfway mark to form the government in Maharashtra is 145, leaving the MVA far behind.
In Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance secured a second consecutive term. The coalition, which led the I.N.D.I.A. bloc in the state, won 56 out of 81 assembly seats, comfortably surpassing the majority mark of 41. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), in contrast, won only 25 constituencies, marking a setback for the saffron party in the state. While JMM becma single largest party with 35 seats, BJP emerged as the second-largest party with 21 seats.
