Gardaí have completed the search of the former family home of Kryan Durnin, and in a new update, it has been reported that the little boy was listed as a guest at a Dundalk B&B over a four-week period during the summer.

According to Independent.ie, the name Kyran Durnin, with a birth date that matches the missing boy, was given at check-in at a Dundalk B&B in late May.

The Gardai have reportedly identified a suspect and at least one other person of “major interest,” according to their sources.

According to records, the child was checked out of the property on June 24th this summer.

Gardai are trying to asses who this child was and if there was any child there at the time who fits Kyran's description.

The owners of the B&B are fully co-operating in the investigation and there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on their part.

According to The Irish Times, the investigation team are following up on a “huge volume” of calls from the general public.

Some of the calls have included claimed sightings of the boy, which are being followed up to assess if another official sighting can be established.

Currently, the last sighting of Kyran was over two years ago. He was reported missing in August of this year, as was his mother.

The search operation on a property where Kryan previously lived has finished.

Gardaí searched the home, garden and nearby wasteland of the terraced home in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

Results of the search are not being released for operational purposes, Gardaí have said.

The three-day search ended at about 3pm on Thursday, however members of the forces remained on site until after the digger and other equipment were taken away.

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said the possibility that a boy had been missing for two years without notice was an “extraordinary incident” unlike any he has seen in his four decades of police work.

He said. “I cannot think of a similar set of circumstances and, in that way, there is a particular element to this that is difficult to comprehend.”

Taoiseach Simon Harris has described the case as “utterly horrifying."

Gardaí suspect the child was killed two years ago and they opened a murder investigation last week.

The investigating team issued a fresh appeal to the public to come forward with any and all information that may help their case. “An Garda Síochána’s sole focus and primary concern, and that of the investigation team is Kyran.

“We want to discover where Kyran is. We want to discover what has happened to Kyran. I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information in connection with the disappearance of Kyran to contact investigating Gardaí.

“Do not rule out any information that you may have. Please do not assume that the investigation team know the information that you may have.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence.

“You can contact the Garda Investigation Team at Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or speak with any member of An Garda Síochána”.
