Woman pinned to floor by man in Paignton town centre attack

A woman was pinned down to the floor by a man in Paignton town centre. Devon and Cornwall Police said the alleged assault took place on Victoria Street.

Officers were called to the scene at around 5.30pm last Thursday (November 14). The suspect also reportedly caused damage to the door at Costa Coffee.

Police have confirmed that a man, aged 38 and from Torquay, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He has been released on police bail.

The force are now appealing to the public for additional information. They are urging witnesses to come forward.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Investigating officers are keen to hear from any witnesses who saw the incident who have not yet spoken to police, particularly a man who intervened and challenged the suspect but left prior to police attendance."

They added: "Anybody with information is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50240288992."
