Devon funeral notices: Fish and chip shop legend died on his birthday

The former owner of a much-loved Torquay chippy died on his birthday, his family has announced. Cyril Brokenshire, who owned Cyril's Chip Shop in Plainmoor, died peacefully and will be remembered by his loved ones as a "loving father" and "beloved grandfather and great-grandfather".

The tribute is among more than 90 left to cherished members of our community this week. They include death notices, funeral announcements and in memoriams.

We publish the announcements every week as it is a longstanding tradition in local news. Last week, the family of lifelong Exeter City fan Andrew 'Andy' Brock announced that he had died at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer.
