Motorboat capsizing in Palaw Township leaves many, including students, missing

Many people, including students, are missing after a motorboat capsized in Palaw Township, Taninthayi Region, according to local sources.

The incident occurred last night when a motorboat traveling from Kyaukkar Village in Palaw Township to Myeik capsized. 

The boat was loaded with goods and carrying at least 70 passengers, including children returning home for the Thadingyut holiday and preparing to head back to school the following day.

Some bodies have already been recovered. 

The Eleven Media Group is continuing to investigate and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
