Chairman of SAC warns of the risks of foreign cultural influence, urges a national perspective

In his address at the 25th Silver Jubilee Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition, held on October 23 at the Myanmar International Convention Center-2 in Nay Pyi Taw, Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, emphasized the importance of maintaining a national perspective on foreign cultural influences. He noted that awareness of potential risks is crucial.

The Chairman highlighted that a nation’s cultural heritage, national spirit, and value system form the foundation for independent development. Therefore, he urged citizens to view foreign cultural influences through a lens of national values, remaining vigilant about the associated risks to Myanmar’s unique cultural identity.

Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, emphasized the importance of promoting and preserving Myanmar's unique cultural and artistic heritage to counter the influence of foreign elements. He urged continued efforts to strengthen and develop Myanmar's traditional arts, such as music, dance, and crafts, as these form a vital defense against external cultural risks.

Additionally, he called on both established and emerging artists to protect the country’s heritage through their creative endeavors. He encouraged them to foster a national spirit that respects Myanmar's cultural integrity and national interests.

Reflecting on the recently concluded week-long Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition, the Chairman highlighted that the event, while brief, served as a powerful display of Myanmar’s cultural values, social traditions, and deep-seated artistry. The competition successfully showcased the elegance and sophistication of Myanmar's cultural and artistic identity, a source of national pride.
