39 foreign nationals to be deported after crossing Thai-Myanmar border illegally

On the morning of November 25, Thai authorities announced that 39 foreign nationals who crossed the Thaungyin River from Myanmar into Thailand would be deported.

Security operations are being conducted along the Thai-Myanmar border in Tak Province, covering the five districts of Mae Sot, Umphang, Phop Phra, Mae Ramat, and Tha Song Yang. The Thai Armed Forces, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, the Ratchamanu Tak District Immigration Police (Mae Sot), the Mae Sot Police Station, and administrative departments, coordinated with officials from the Sri Lankan Embassy to facilitate the return of these individuals.

The 39 foreign nationals who crossed from Myawady, Myanmar, into Thailand included 32 Sri Lankans, 5 Nepalese, 1 Malaysian, and 1 Russian national.

Thai authorities provided assistance and transported the individuals to the Tak District Immigration Police Station. The process will continue under the National Referral Mechanism (NRM), according to reports from the Thai side.
