Floods claim 433 lives, 79 missing and devastate 780,000 acres of paddy fields

A total of 433 people have died and 79 are missing due to flooding nationwide and more than 780,000 acres of paddy fields were damaged till September 27, sources said.

Due to the speed of the Typhoon Yagi, floods and landslides occurred in Nay Pyi Taw council area, some regions and states and according to the statistics of the morning of September 27, 11,500 houses, 129 office buildings; 333 schools, 228 religious schools, 1,358 road and bridge damages, 5,622 electricity poles, 114 communication poles and more than 780,000 acres of Paddy fields from 110 townships across the country were damaged and there are 433 people died, 79 people went missing and 176,246 animals died, according to state-run newspapers.

At the coordination meeting of the National Disaster Management Committee held in Nay Pyi Taw on September 27, the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, Vice-Senior General Soe Win said that the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the State and Administration Council, had set guidelines and policies and these guidelines and policies have been distributed to the relevant committees. It is reported that a 24-hour emergency office has been established and a natural disaster management center has been established in order to carry out the necessary relief and rehabilitation activities to flood-affected areas in a timely manner.
