2024 Mid-Year Myanmar Gems Emporium showcases over 5,000 lots of pearls, gems, and jade for open tender sale

At the 2024 Mid-Year Myanmar Gems Emporium, 280 lots of pearls, 160 lots of gemstones, and 4,800 lots of jade will be sold through an open tender system, according to reports.

On November 18, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Mid-Year Myanmar Gems Emporium was held at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw. The event was attended by State Administration Council (SAC) Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, high-ranking officers, departmental officials, representatives from the Myanmar Gems and Jewelry Entrepreneurs Association, and both local and international gem merchants.

During the event, the SAC Chairman, along with other attendees, inspected jade, gemstone, and pearl lots displayed for sale in the Mani Yadana Jade Hall. After inspecting the exhibits, the SAC Chairman provided necessary guidance to officials based on their presentations.

Following this, the SAC Chairman and his team visited private gem and jewelry sales exhibitions and inspected the jade lots displayed outside the hall.

The Myanmar Gems Emporium, which began in 1964, aims to generate foreign currency income for the nation and foster economic benefits for its citizens by selling extracted gemstones. At this year’s fair, 280 lots of pearls, 160 lots of gemstones, and 4,800 lots of jade will be sold to local and international gem merchants through an open tender system. Transactions will be conducted in accordance with regulations using currencies such as US dollars, euros, yuan, Thai baht, Myanmar kyat, and other foreign currencies accepted by the Central Bank of Myanmar.

The 2024 Mid-Year Myanmar Gems Emporium will run from November 18 to 27, during which the items will be exhibited and sold. On the opening day, over 4,500 local and international gem merchants attended to explore and learn about the displays.
