Man, 60s, dies in hospital days after being found unresponsive on Kerry roadside

A cyclist, aged in his 60s, has died in hospital just days after being found unresponsive on the roadside in Kerry.

At approximately 12:45am on Sunday, emergency services were alerted after a cyclist was found unresponsive on the roadside at Bracker O’Regan Road, Tralee.

The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was riding an electric bike (e-bike) at the time of the incident. The man was rushed to University Hospital Kerry after the incident and has now been pronounced deceased.

The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements will now be made for a postmortem examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic incident in Tralee, County Kerry, on Sunday.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for any persons that were travelling or provided assistance to the cyclist on Caherslee Road & Bracker O'Regan Road, Tralee, between 12:20 am and 12:50 am on Sunday morning 20 October, including persons with dash-cam and mobile phone footage, to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Tralee Garda Station at 066 710 2300, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
