'A brilliant sunbeam, gone too soon': Tributes pour for young Galway man tragically killed in accident

Tributes have poured in for a young Galway man described as an angel following his sudden and tragic death.

Simon Quinn, aged in his 20s, passed away after fighting for his life for a number of days in hospital following a serious single-vehicle road traffic collision on the R360 at Ballintava, Dunmore, Galway, on Friday, October 18.

Simon will be remembered by his beloved parents, siblings and many extended family, including his uncles, aunts, cousins, and his wide circle of friends.

Tributes have poured in for Simon following his tragic passing, with many expressing their sympathies for the young man’s family following his passing.

Simon's National School remembered his days at the school: "To say Simon was a pleasure to teach is an understatement, he was the most considerate and kind young man who filled our school with joy.

"He always had the most beautiful smile which warmed the heart of every teacher who worked with him- we will never forget the respect and kindness that he always showed to others."

“My deepest sympathy on the tragic death of Simon taken in the prime of life. May Simon enjoy eternal happiness,” one mourner penned.

Another wrote: “Deepest sympathies to the Quinn and Connelly families on the sad passing of Simon. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

One more expressed: “Sincere sympathy to the Quinn Family on the very sad passing of Simon. We are thinking of you at this very sad and difficult time.”

“Sending our sincere condolences to Carmel, Fred, Aaron and Iarla, Sheila and Brendan, Noel and Mags, Tina and Hollie, and to all who loved Simon so dearly,” a fourth shared.

“We pray you find strength and comfort during this difficult time in the memories you shared.”

While another said: “Our deepest sympathy to Carmel, Fred, Aaron, Iarla all the Connolly and Quinn families on the sudden and untimely death of your beloved Simon.

“Thinking of you all at this very sad time. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

Simon will repose at his family home in Liss, Abbeyknockmoy this Wednesday evening from 5pm until 8pm. A shuttle bus service will be in operation from St. Bernard's Church, Abbeyknockmoy (H54 KX60) to his home, due to limited parking access.

Removal from his home will take place on Thursday morning, with mass at St. Bernard’s Church, Abbeyknockmoy at 12pm followed by burial afterwards in Abbeyknockmoy Cemetery.
