Dramatic scenes as stinger device used to stop stolen car in Co Wicklow as gardai make arrests
by Andrew E Quinn · Irish MirrorA stinger device was used to stop a stolen car after the driver failed to stop for gardai in Co. Wicklow on Saturday.
Gardaí responded to report of a theft from a vehicle in the Baltinglass area of Co. Wicklow and shortly before 6am, a car failed to stop when directed to do so.
A managed containment operation was put in place during which a stinger device was successfully deployed on the N81 at Burgage Moyle, and the car was brought to a halt.

It was subsequently discovered that the car had been subject of an unauthorised taking. The car along with a number of items suspected of being stolen were recovered.
Two males, one a juvenile in his teens, the other an adult in his late teens, were arrested at the scene and were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in Co. Wicklow.
The have since been charged, and are expected to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court on Sunday.
"Investigations are ongoing," said a gardai spokesperson.
