Man rushed to hospital following vicious daytime assault in Cork as gardai make arrest

The incident occurred at Nash's Boreen in Fairhill on the northside of Cork city shortly after 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
Gardai and emergency services responded to the scene and on arrival they discovered a man in his 30s who had sustained serious injuries, Cork Beo reports.

The victim received treatment at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital, where his injuries have been described as 'non-life threatening' at this time.
Shortly after the victim was handed over to the care of paramedics Gardaí made their way to a second location and arrested a man in his 20s.
The alleged attacker was arrested for public order offences and is currently being held at a Garda station in Cork city.
Gardaí have confirmed that investigations into this matter are ongoing.
In a statement, A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services responded to a report of an assault in Nash’s Boreen in Fairhill, Cork at approximately 3:30pm this afternoon, Saturday 23rd November 2024.
"A male in his 30s was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
"Responding Gardaí arrested a male in his 20s for public order offences at a nearby location. He is currently detained at a Garda station in Cork City under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Investigations are ongoing."
