Homicide investigation launched after death in Gisborne

A homicide investigation is underway after a man who was taken to hospital from a Gisborne house with severe injuries died.

Police were alerted at 4.20am on Monday after the man was taken to hospital, they said in a statement. He died a short time later.

Investigators believe he was injured at a home in Tolerton Avenue.

A scene guard is in place and scene examinations are being carried out.

Police asked for anyone with information about what happened to contact them by calling 105, and quoting the file number 241028/4688, or reporting anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
