Fatal crash in Papakura

One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Papakura, Auckland.

The accident happened on Saturday morning on Great South Road, near O'Shannessey Street.

Police earlier said it appeared there were "serious injuries", and on Saturday afternoon confirmed one person had been killed.

Great South Road was closed, with traffic management and diversions in place. The serious crash unit was investigating.

Police asked motorists to avoid the area and to expect delays.
